No. Once you download your chosen open-weights model, PocketAI operates 100% offline. You can converse, analyze photos, and transcribe speech while in airplane mode or away from any cellular network.
PocketAI includes a curated, pre-verified catalog of optimized models (from Hugging Face repositories in GGUF and MLX formats) that fit your specific Apple hardware. You can also import any compatible open-weight model directly from Hugging Face.
Pairing connects your iPhone to your Mac over your local Wi-Fi network using mutual TLS encryption. Your prompt is routed directly to your Mac and the output is streamed back. The communication never touches a PocketAI server or external relay.
Your license key is cryptographically signed with Ed25519. When entered in the app or launched via the pocketai://activate?key=... link, the app verifies the signature using an embedded public key entirely offline.
Yes. A single PocketAI Pro licence covers your Mac plus the phones paired to it, 5 devices in total. The Mac checks the limit; iPhones never contact a licence server.
